I also bought myself a new 3DS XL. I've had my reservations about the system in the past as the game line-up never interested me all that much, but with the recent launch of Monster Hunter 4U I've been using it non-stop. Of course I'd still prefer MH to be on the Playstation/VITA but what can you do.
On the Animu side, I've decided to start watching SAO. Don't even ask me why. I always looked at that show as entry level silliness but I thought "why the hell not", and pressed that play button. So far it's actually not too bad. It's nowhere near what people have been hyping it up to be, though. Virtual Reality is cool but throwing in a 15/16 year old romance including semi-serious marriage? I'm not sure if it's sweet or barf-inducing cheesy. I'll have to keep watching to find out.
A more positive note, at least the rest of my anime catch-up hasn't been too bad at all. Tokyo Ghoul, Attack On Titan (actually not complete crap!) Psycho-Pass, Kill La Kill, Knights of Sidonia, Space Dandy and even GITS Arise. Pretty freakin' decent. I can't wait for that GITS OVA.
About a year ago I picked myself up a nice Wacom Intuos
To say this helps with doing digital artwork would be a massive understatement. For the longest time I've been using their much smaller Bamboo model. The design itself didn't help much since most of the important stuff was located on the top, away from my fingers. It just wasn't what I wanted from a tablet, at least not anymore.
My latest purchase is absolutely wonderful. I'm not even sure if I want to be saving for a Cintiq anymore as this does the job just fine. I highly recommend it.
Another art venture would be my attempt to return to my roots with going sketchbook only for a bit. Digital artwork is nice but there's something appealing about having your artwork actually there
for you to touch and feel. Sometimes I feel like there's a disconnect when I'm working on the computer, and it doesn't help when everything I upload must be of the highest quality. It really kills the fun and the motivation.
I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way sometimes. Perhaps I just need to stop caring about how good/not so good my stuff is and worry about whether or not I'm actually enjoying it all.
That's all for now folks. I'll soon have my comp set up and ready to go. Artwork soon!
Until next time
